This is a 100% unopened stock engine. Often we see people worry about just making 300 horsepower. The m5x series of engines is much more capable than people think. Although, it never hurts to over build an engine if your wallet can do it. Another thing to note, the health of your engine is very important to the capability of your setup.
After street tuning, we decided to take this customer’s car to the dyno. Our street tune was pretty spot on from the street.
This setup made too much torque down low, we reduced the power down low and smoothed out and added some power for the rest of the power band.
We made some corrections to fueling, ignition timing, and VANOS Cams.
🔴Red line was the street tune map.
🔴Blue line was after some smoothing and adding some power.
Same boost levels.
📚This gt30 setup had an exhaust leak with a small and restrictive 2.5” exhaust. Also was using a manual boost controller, which allowed for lots of midrange boost, where this turbo is more efficient; but once the turbo falls out of its efficiency range, boost falls down to 11-10psi. With an electronic boost controller, we would have been able to add duty cycle to the top of the wastegate diaphragm and maintain the boost pressure to the redline, but that is a future upgrade the customer will make.
For what it is; it makes great power!
Thank you @miamiperformanceinc (on instagram) for the dyno rental.
